Prime Minister Narendra Modi today discussed drought situation of Chattishgarh with Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh.

He did the same with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

These meetings are part of the Prime Minister's review of the drought situation in 11 States.

Chhattisgarh has declared 93 tehsils in 20 districts across the state as drought-hit in view of deficient rainfall.

Prime Minister had earlier held separate meetings with Chief Ministers of eight states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

PM Modi is holding separate meetings with CMs of the 11 drought affected states in the country.

On Tuesday he met CMs of Chattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister Raman Singh mentioned the water conservation measures initiated by the State.

These include construction of 44,181 new farm ponds, and construction of 9851 ground water recharge structures.

Andhra Pradesh Cm Chandrababu Naidu mentioned the States progress in micro-irrigation.

The State has a target of 20 lakh hectares for micro-irrigation by 2022.

Complicating the drought issue is the fact that each area is unique in the problems it faces.

While Marathwada is faced with a drinking water crisis, other areas have no water for farming.

This is why the Pm is meeting Cms separately.. He has already held meetings with UP, Telangana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.

While Rajasthan is to build 7 lakh ponds for water conservation, of which 1 lakh are to be completed by June 30th 2016, Up has set itself a target of 78,000 ground water recharge structures.

Marathwada is focussed on pushing forward sichai yojanas.. even Jharkhand has taken steps to deal with the problem.

The centre has already released extra funds under MGNREGA to deal with the crisis.

States are also being aided through the NDRF and SDRF .

Moreover, requests for further aid from states are being worked upon.
